Who Are We?

  • Our Mission: Make government more accessible to connect and empower. We're building an AI platform that helps businesses and individuals make sense of messy government & court data. Executive orders, news shifts, regulations, legislation, cases - we’re making sense of it all.
  • Why: Corporations, law firms, non-profits, and individuals alike are still using spreadsheets and archaic government websites to understand how public policy impacts their industry. They deserve a 21st century tool that streamlines how we make sense of governing bodies, and enables a more transparent and accessible advocacy process.
  •  Investors: $9M raised from Bonfire Ventures, Communitas (frmr CEO @Thomson Reuters), Tom Spengler (CEO @Granicus), WndrCo, Nick Allen (Founding Product Designer at Snapchat), and Hon. Tony Coelho (Former Congressman, US House Majority Whip, & Primary Sponsor of American Disabilities Act).
  • Customers: Include Fortune 500 Companies, AM Law 100 Global Law Firms, and Government Organizations.
  • Team: Passionate and hungry (both literally and figuratively), looking to build cool stuff to benefit everyone!
  • Where: HQ in NYC w/ a hub in Salt Lake City.
  • Hybrid: Hybrid between remote and our office in NYC and Salt Lake City.

Role

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer who can own design end-to-end: facilitating and leading workshops (including discovery sessions, brainstorming exercises, and ‘how-might-we’ ideation),  mapping complex user flows, to crafting intuitive UIs, to delivering polished visuals for both product and marketing. This is a full-stack design role that spans UX strategy, UI craftsmanship, and graphic design. Holistically,  the role will place a heavier emphasis on user experience, over UI.

As our first design hire, you’ll report directly to the CEO, and play a foundational role in shaping Abstract’s design language and design system. You’ll work closely with product, engineering, and marketing to build a platform that not only makes government data usable, but delightful. The product design team will remain lean as we scale, with the expectation of you being the sole designer for the foreseeable future at Abstract.

You’ll also support the marketing team's go-to-market efforts by co-creating sales decks, marketing visuals, and graphics that communicate our value to enterprise customers.

This is an opportunity to set the design standard for an AI-first tool that is re-defining how companies, and ultimately the everyday person, interacts with their governing bodies. It’s a special time, as we have strong demand from enterprise pilots, and are on the cusp of crossing product-market fit into our Series A next.

Your Background

  • Experience: 4+ years in product design, with at least one role at a startup that scaled past product-market fit.
  • UX & UI: Proven ability to own the full product design lifecycle: research, wireframes, flows, prototypes, final UI.
  • Workflow Design: Skilled at designing and redesigning complex user workflows, with a track record of simplifying processes and improving usability in enterprise SaaS products.
  • Systems Thinking: Experienced in building design systems that scale across product and marketing.
  • Graphic Design: Comfortable designing marketing and sales collateral (decks, PDFs, ads, landing pages).
  • Collaboration: Strong communicator who works effectively with engineers, PMs, and GTM teams.
  • Tools: Expert in Figma, with familiarity in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Canva, Webflow, Jira/Linear, and emerging AI design tools (e.g. Diagram, Galileo, Uizard, MidJourney).
  • Learning Mindset: Quick to understand new domains (AI, government policy, B2B enterprise workflows).
  • Passionate: You’re passionate about politics, technology, and increasing government transparency. 🗽

Bonus Points

  • Background in legal tech, govtech, or policy-related industries.
  • Previous role as a founding or early designer at a startup.
  • Motion/animation skills for product explainers.
  • You like dark chocolate, bagels, or donuts.

  • $110,000 - $180,000 Annual Salary
  • Favorable Equity & Bonus Structure
